HMP Kirkham – Freckleton Road, Kirkham, Preston, PR4 2RN
Permanent | 39 hours per week
We’re recruiting a qualified Plumber to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Kirkham, an open prison near Preston. This is a stable, long‑term role on a secure Ministry of Justice contract.
Working hours
- 39 hours per week
- Monday–Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
- Friday–Sunday: 08:00 – 16:00
- 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis
- 15% weekend allowance on basic salary

What you’ll be doing
- Routine and reactive plumbing maintenance
- Mains water supply repairs
- Fault finding and repairs on life‑expired equipment
- Inspections, water sampling and basic risk assessments
- Making good following repairs
What we’re looking for
- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating is essential
- Experience working in a commercial environment
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience using light plant equipment
- Legionella Control (L8) – desirable

Security clearance
This role is subject to Prison Security Clearance and a Standard DBS check.
