Permanent | 39 hours per week

 

We’re recruiting a qualified Plumber to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Kirkham, an open prison near Preston. This is a stable, long‑term role on a secure Ministry of Justice contract.

Working hours

  • 39 hours per week
  • Monday–Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
  • Friday–Sunday: 08:00 – 16:00
  • 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis
  • 15% weekend allowance on basic salary

What you’ll be doing

  • Routine and reactive plumbing maintenance
  • Mains water supply repairs
  • Fault finding and repairs on life‑expired equipment
  • Inspections, water sampling and basic risk assessments
  • Making good following repairs

What we’re looking for

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating is essential
  • Experience working in a commercial environment
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience using light plant equipment
  • Legionella Control (L8) – desirable

Security clearance

This role is subject to Prison Security Clearance and a Standard DBS check.
Amey will support you through the full clearance process.
